Fight against terrorism, emergency program, and 2026 World Cup qualifiers on the cover of Burkinabe newspapers

Ouagadougou: This Friday’s publications comment on the 1st ordinary session of the Strategic Orientation Council of the Emergency Program for the Sahel in Burkina Faso (PUS-BF), the match of the 3rd day qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup between the Stallions and the Pharaohs of Egypt, without forgetting the fight against terrorism .

‘Fight against terrorism: The head of state hands over new equipment to the army,’ said the state daily Sidwaya on its headline.

The public newspaper reports that the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré handed over on Thursday in Ouagadougou, a large batch of military and engineering equipment to the Defense and Security Forces, engaged on the front of the war against terrorism.

The dean of Burkinabè private dailies, L’Observateur Paalga, for his part, maintains that the acquisition of equipment continues to strengthen the operational capacities of the fighting forces.

And the private newspaper Le Pays specifies that the equipment handed over consists, among other things
, of armored combat vehicles resistant to improvised explosive devices, ammunition, weaponry and military engineering work equipment.

Under another chapter, L’Observateur Paalga writes on its first page: ‘Emergency program for the Sahel: Burkina towards a formalization of resilience benchmarks’.

The colleague indicates that thanks to the 1st extraordinary session of the Strategic Orientation Council of the Emergency Program for the Sahel in Burkina Faso (PUS-BF), its members met yesterday Thursday in Ouagadougou, to make a critical look at the path traveled and appreciated the coherence of the activities.

The public newspaper Sidwaya reports that the physical execution rate of the said program in 2023 amounts to 57.2%. According to him, the meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister, Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla.

On this subject, Sidwaya indicates that the Stallions were dominated yesterday Thursday at the Cairo Interna
tional Stadium by the Pharaohs of Egypt with a score of 2 to 1, during the 3rd day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

By the way, the private daily Le pays adds that the Stallions narrowly fall before the Pharaohs.

In the same vein, Observateur Paalga announces that the former footballer, Artiste Bancé, has been responsible for detecting dual nationals for the national eleven.
