The Director of Cabinet of the President of Faso, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin MEDAH chaired, this Monday early afternoon, the check presentation ceremony by the National Council for the Fight against AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (CNLS-IST) to four structures for actions to fight and raise awareness against AIDS.

The Ministerial Committees for the Fight against AIDS of the Ministries in charge of Defense, National Education, as well as the structures, Citizen and Community Action for Resilience and Development (ACCORD) and the National Council for the Informal Economy, benefited from financial support from the CNLS-IST, with a total value of 115,529,569 FCFA.

These structures received their checks from the hands of the Chief of Staff of the President of Faso, Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin MEDAH, representing the President of Faso, President of the CNLS-IST. The envelope was distributed as follows: 28,311,500 CFA francs for ACCORD, 33,815,944 CFA francs for the Ministerial Committe

“The objective of this support is to encourage these actors and all those who are involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS to redouble their efforts in light of certain factors arising from the situation and the security context,” declared Captain MEDAH.

He called on all stakeholders to strengthen awareness-raising methods for young people through screening and support for all those who benefit from treatment, so that the prevalence rate can drop considerably.

According to the Permanent Secretary of CNLS-IST, Dr. Seydou OUATTARA, the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in Burkina is around 0.5%. However, he indicated that specific groups are more exposed to HIV/AIDS. For him, the mission of the four structures is to “conduct prevention and promotion activities i
n the fight against HIV/AIDS for the defense and security forces, adolescents in schools and the informal economy, internally displaced persons and truck drivers.”

The representative of the beneficiaries, Intendant Colonel-major Jean Baptiste PARKOUDA, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense and Veterans, expressed his gratitude to the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, President of the CNLS-IST. “This financial support should be recognized at its true value. On behalf of the beneficiary structures, we undertake to make the best possible use of this financial support,” he said.
