Faso Cup 2024: EFO wins the 37th edition, the 15th in its history

Ouagadougou: The Queen of stadiums is crowned for the 15th time in its history, since the National Cup became the Coupe du Faso. And the fight was fierce to achieve this coronation. Against the Bama Academicians the chances of winning the ball were reduced.

Boureima Zongo’s foals actually put their foot down at the start of the game but failed in the last gesture. Franck Aziz Kiemdé is not having his best day. The Stellists contain Rahimo’s attacks and handle the rest. With experience helping, the EFO attempted a few incursions into Rahimo’s defense.

Eric Emmanuel Tapsoba overflows on the left and serves a good ball to the EFO’s most prominent attacker, Camille Yé, who does not find the target (40th ) . Then follows the reply from Franck Aziz Kiemdé who also does not find the net (41st ) . The two teams will thus keep each other in respect until half-time.

The Queen of the stadiums returns from this break pumped
up and puts pressure on the defense of the Bama team. In quick succession Camille Yé (47th ) and Eric Emmanuel Tapsoba (48th ) failed to open the scoring. EFO central defender Emmanuel Ouédraogo (55th ) will immediately receive a red card (cumulative yellow cards).

Outnumbered, the ‘Blue and Whites’ did not give up. Their coach Cheick Hamidou Ouattara made changes to evolve into a 4-4-1, leaving Camille Yé alone at the forefront of the attack. The entries of the former Stallion Zakaria Sanogo and the former Cadet Stallion Aboubacar Sidiki Camara with 20 minutes to go things did not improve for Rahimo until the end.

It’s a party in the ‘blue and white’ family

It was necessary to resort to the penalty shootout, that of the goalkeepers, for the Star to shine. After the first 5 shots on each side the score was 4 goals all. It was at the last shot that the last rampart of the EFO, Phillippe La Paix Maré demonstrated all his class to block Rahimo’s 6th shooter , Lassina Traoré.

The entire EFO bench and supporte
rs are exultant. It’s joy and the whole stadium is decked out in ‘Blue and White’. It is consecration. The trophy from the 37th edition of the Coupe du will be in the EFO trophy cabinet.

For this coronation, the EFO won the trophy, the gold medal and the sum of 10 million FCFA, leaving the silver medal to its challenger Rahimo. The CFFEB, which plays in the second division, ranks 3rd and wins the bronze medal and the sum of 5 million.

With its 15 titles, EFO is the most successful team in the Faso Cup, followed by its legendary rival ASFA-Y with 5 titles and ASFB (4 titles).

It was the President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré who chaired the ceremony of this 37th edition of the Faso Cup. He was accompanied by the president of the ALT, the president of the CSC and some members of the government.

The EFO saves its season. The path to the CAF Cup is therefore open to her. For the preliminary round, it is Hafia FC from Guinea which presents itself to it. The matches begin in mid-August.
