Ouagadougou: Etoile filante de Ouagadougou (EFO) and Rahimo FC qualified on Sunday evening for the final of the Coupe du Faso by respectively beating ASFA-Y (3-2, tab) and the CFFEB (2-0) in the semi-final.
The capital derby between EFO and ASFA-Y went to the advantage of the first team cited on penalties at the Issoufou Joseph Conombo municipal stadium in Ouagadougou. The two teams played a balanced match for 90 minutes without either team scoring a goal.
Even during extra time (2×15 minutes) no team was able to score. It was during the fateful penalty shootout that the Queen of the stadiums showed herself more skillful than the Old Lady (3-2).
In the 2nd semi -final which pitted Rahimo FC from Bama against the Burkina Football Training Center (CFFEB) at the Wobi stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso, the spectators did not wait 120 minutes to find out the winner. Coach Boureima Zongo’s team quickly settled the score with his opponent in regulation time by scoring twice thanks to Zakaria Sanogo (85th ) and Aboubacar
Sidiki Camara (90+5).
The final will therefore pit EFO against Rahimo FC on July 6 while ASFA-Y and CFFEB will compete on June 28 for 3rd place on the podium.
The Stellistes will try to win their 15th trophy in the history of the Coupe du Faso while Rahimo’s team will aim for a 2nd coronation .
