Bobo-Dioulasso, The commander of the 2nd military region, battalion chief Lassané Porgo, presented the exceptional complementary contingent of the 2023 class, comprising 882 men and women, to the national flag, on Friday May 31, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso.

The ranks of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) have been strengthened with the numbers of the complementary contingent of the class of 2023.

Recruited on an exceptional basis, the complementary contingent of the class of 2023, with 882 soldiers including 250 girls, was presented to the national flag, Friday May 31, 2024, marking the end of two months of initial military training.

Coming entirely from the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the cohort of this contingent, according to the commander of the Armed Forces Training Group (GIFA), battalion chief Yves Bambara, is made up of men and women with a primary education level (79.62%), and illiterate (20.38%).

Received at GIFA on April 4, these former VDPs obtained ‘very satisfactory’ resu
lts, according to Commander Bambara.

With a class average of 13.97/20, the GIFA boss estimated that this performance demonstrates the seriousness of the learners throughout their stay at the training group.

In order to be effective and provide a helping hand to their brothers in arms, battalion chief Yves Bambara invited them to maintain, preserve and improve the knowledge and skills acquired during the two months of hard work, of surpassing oneself in sweat and blood.

The field and the school, battalion chief Bambara lets them know, are two different realities.

This is why he asked them to be ‘worthy and honest soldiers’.

‘These VDPs who have already fought before being recruited know the situation in the country.

It is moreover to defend the homeland that they first enlisted as VDP, and today as soldiers. I ask them to remain in this dynamic of defending the homeland, and to put the general interest above everything’, the advice of the commander of the 2nd military region, Lassané Porgo, to the soldie
rs who have just finished their training military initial.
