The best girls in the 2024 CEPE, BEPC and BAC exams and the households that distinguished themselves in supporting girls to stay in school, received incentive prizes on Saturday in Diapaga during a day dedicated to promoting girls’ education in the province, AIB noted on site.

This award ceremony was organized by the association ‘Unir Pour Agir’ (UPA) at the women’s house in Diapaga.

Women’s cycling race, women’s marathon, testimonies from beneficiaries and their parents, and the presentation of encouragement prizes were the highlights of this day under the aegis of the 1st Vice -President of the Special Delegation of Tansarga Ibrahim Kapioko. He was accompanied by representatives of the provincial education departments, those of the provincial humanitarian action department, representatives of CSOs, beneficiaries and their parents.

During the ceremony, the three best female students in the CEPE, BEPC and BAC session 2024 left with their hands full. After the awards were given to the top five in the cycl
ing race and marathon, to the best households that best distinguished themselves in supporting girls to stay in school, the participants were treated to testimonials from the beneficiaries and their parents.

This is how they all recognized the benefits of the UPA association which, since 2019, has been working in six villages in the commune of Tansarga, namely: Kotchari, Bobomonti, Banduo Boadiaga Malpoa and Natongou. Each year, the association identifies 50 girls and provides each of them with a bicycle, school kits, scholarships and food.

From 2019 to 2024, 300 girls were sponsored by the Association. Alongside the students, the UPA supports the mothers of teenage girls with resources and training in income-generating activities to ensure the continuation of the project and which allows them to have resources and skills in order to be economically independent.

The association “Unir Pour Agir” also works in hygiene and sanitation by offering the populations of the six villages impacted by the project latr
ines, boreholes, elements necessary for the health and well-being of families.

The field coordinator of the NGO “La Brique” Alexis Lodala Dembélé said he is working in tandem with the association “Unir Pour Agir” in assisting girls and populations who face the many challenges related to the consequences of terrorism. This solidarity towards girl students must extend to other schools to allow girls in difficult situations where hundreds of girls have seen their school career interrupted due to insecurity.

Welcoming the initiative of the association “Unir Pour Agir” Ibrahim Kapioko said that it is in line with the government’s strategy to allow children in areas under terrorist influence to always have access to education. He thanked the donor and hoped that the initiative would be extended to other areas for the children’s happiness.
