Disenclavement and urbanization: the government adopts the presidential initiative ‘Faso Mêbo’

The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE chaired the weekly Council of Ministers this Wednesday. Several issues on the agenda were examined and important decisions taken for the smooth running of the country, according to the Minister of State, Government Spokesperson, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO.

Under the Presidency of Faso, the Council adopted a decree launching the Presidential Initiative “Faso Mêbo”. The Minister of State, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO indicated that this initiative denotes the will of the Head of State to provide appropriate responses to the concerns and challenges of Burkinabe citizens.

It is structured around two components. “The first concerns the construction of road infrastructure by road brigades at lower costs. The second refers to urban development and beautification through the construction of decent housing, sanitation and the creation of green public spaces,” explained the Minister of State, Government Spokesperson.

On behalf of the Ministry of
Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, the Council adopted two reports. The first is a decree on the creation, attributions, organization and operation of the National Artistic Ensembles. It aims to “restore to our culture all its letters of nobility. This decree aims to energize these Artistic Ensembles so that they can be tools for professionalizing the sector”, supported the Minister in charge of Culture, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO.

The second report is a preliminary draft law on the Status of the Artist in Burkina Faso. The Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism specified that this preliminary draft law enshrines many major developments in connection with the consideration of a certain number of tools for exploiting artistic works, in particular digital platforms.

Under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Crafts, the Council adopted two decrees. The first decree establishes a mixed economy company called the Kokologho Integrated Pharmaceutical Technopole Managem
ent Company. According to Minister Serge Gnaniodem PODA, this is an industrial zone dedicated to research and development, entrepreneurial and industrial production of pharmaceutical products in our country in order to make quality products accessible and available.

The second decree adopted concerns the definition of the criteria for granting balance sheet bonuses in state companies and public social welfare institutions. “The adoption of this decree now makes it possible to define single harmonized criteria for all public entities granting balance sheet bonuses,” specified Minister PODA. According to the minister, the adoption of this decree will make it possible to save approximately 4.2 billion CFA francs which will be reinvested in the construction of social infrastructure for the benefit of our valiant populations.
