More than 30 days after the sulfurous visit of the Minister of Agriculture, Commander Ismaël Sombié, to the 280 ha development site on the slopes of the Pic de Sindou, the work is still stalling according to the observation made Thursday by the governor of the Cascades, Florent Badabouè Bazié.

As part of the 2023-2025 agropastoral offensive launched by the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Commander Ismaël Sombié, Minister in charge of Agriculture, launched the construction work on January 15, 2024. of 280 hectares on the Sindou peaks site, for a period of 5 months.

Currently on the ground, the work is encountering difficulties just 2 months and 9 days from the planned end. This is the observation made by Badabouè Florent Bazié, Governor of the Cascades region, on March 21, 2024, during an unannounced visit.

The completion rate was estimated by the site technicians at 7.2% and the time taken was 46%. »

Have the recommendations been implemented? », questioned Governor Florent Bazié. In
response, the technician on site indicated that ‘the machines have been doubled, the staff has been doubled and we have also added night work’. In response, the Governor noted that ‘I don’t think it’s a question of night work; the day is even very timid compared to the backlog to be made up.’ Asked when the work will be completed, the same technician mentioned 3 months, a deadline that the Governor considered unachievable given the current state of the work. In this context, the Governor, accompanied by the Regional Director of Agriculture and a PReCA official, was offended. After consultation with his colleagues, he told the company: ‘We need this site to be operational by May 31 at the latest so that our producers can begin their agricultural activities.’ And he concluded by saying: ‘Regional Director, responsible for PReCA, you know what to do! “. According to the Governor of the Cascades, the recommendations made to the company are not taken into account and if it continues on this path, the bottomland wi
ll not be ready in time for producers.

Furthermore, the Governor took advantage of this outing to visit the Douna lowlands developed by the Léraba Plain Development and Development Project (PAVAL). In Douna, the company is increasing its efforts to meet deadlines. On this site, the completion rate is 20% and the time consumed is 17.80%. Badabouè Florent Bazié encouraged the company to stay the course.

It is important to remember that the development of 280 hectares by the Agricultural Resilience and Competitiveness Project (PRéCA) on the Sindou peaks lowland site in the province of Léraba is part of the implementation implementation of the agropastoral offensive. As for the Léraba Plain Development and Development Project (PAVAL) launched in April 2021, its ambition is to lay solid foundations for the development of the Cascades agropolis. It emphasizes the levers likely to have knock-on effects on the resilience and well-being of populations, particularly the most vulnerable in the Cascades region and Burk
ina Faso as a whole.
