Death of the founding father of the faculty of medicine in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou: The founding father of the faculty of medicine in Burkina Faso, Professor Rambré Moumouni Ouiminga, died on Wednesday at the age of 85, the order of doctors announced in a communicated.

Professor Rambré Moumouni Ouiminga was the first associate professor of Upper Volta in 1977 and the first Burkinabè associate professor of surgery in 1978, the order specifies.

In 1981, he founded the medical faculty of Upper Volta, now Burkina Faso, and in 2004, the medical faculty of the University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Saaba. Professor Ouiminga was also secretary general of CAMES.

His student, Professor Charlemagne Ouédraogo, remembers him as ‘an exceptional leader, guiding with wisdom and kindness’.

For the gynecologist, ‘the legacy of knowledge, compassion and excellence of Professor Rambré Moumouni Ouiminga will continue to inspire future generations’, while ‘his expertise and his kindness have marked generations of students and colleagues’ .

‘I remember his famous phrase which galvanized us: ‘work
until you die…’,’ said Professor Charlemagne Ouédraogo.

The funeral program for the deceased is not yet known.
