A public conference was held on October 24, 2024 in Kaya, capital of the Centre-North region, on the theme “Communication strategy in times of war, civic-mindedness and the need for engagement”, for local populations and internally displaced persons.

This conference, organized under the blessing of His Majesty Naaba Sigri, King of Boussouma, and under the chairmanship of Colonel-Major Z. Blaise Ouédraogo, Governor of the Centre-North region, was initiated by Issa Lagvaré, Chargé de mission at the Presidency of Faso, and his focal points, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Kaya multipurpose hall.

Co-hosted by Adama Amadé Siguiré, professional writer and consultant, and Lianhoué Imhotep Bayala, specialist in African literature, the conference mobilized administrative, customary and religious authorities, as well as leaders of civil society organizations and members of the citizen watch of the Center-North region around the theme “Communication strategy in times of war, civic-mindedness and the need for co
mmitment.”

According to the organizers, this conference is part of the training of young people in the Centre-North region. “The theme is topical and aims to strengthen civic-mindedness among young people in our region,” said the mission officer at the Presidency.

For Adama Amadé Siguiré, young people are already doing good work on the ground in terms of communication, but there are gaps to be filled.

The conference was therefore an opportunity for him to “refocus them and, above all, to allow them to focus on what is essential.”

According to the speaker, “these young people are like soldiers and must remain focused on the essentials.” The speakers therefore focused on how to communicate in times of war to contribute effectively to the fight against terrorism, emphasizing the notions of civic-mindedness and patriotism.

The initiative was welcomed by local authorities. Wendingoudi Fidèle Ouédraogo, technical advisor representing the governor of the Centre-North region, invited participants to make the mos
t of the communications presented by the eminent speakers.
