The People’s Republic of China handed over to the Burkinabè army on Thursday a batch of 81 vehicles consisting of pick-ups, removal trucks, crane trucks, flatbed trucks, water tanks. water and fuel, as well as satellite phones to help in its fight against terrorism, noted an AIB journalist.
‘This equipment, composed of logistical means, will strengthen the operational capabilities of combat units in this crucial stage of the fight against terrorism,’ rejoiced the minister in charge of defense, Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly.
For Mr. Coulibaly, this donation reflects the liveliness, pragmatism and sincerity of cooperation between Burkina Faso and the People’s Republic of China.
According to him, ‘this military cooperation, marked by mutual respect, perfectly meets our expectations’. This material constitutes the last batch of a donation agreement started in 2022.
According to the charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Burkina Faso, Wang Wenzhang, ‘the material is the embodiment of our friendship,
of our support for our Burkinabè friends. It is also a realization of the comprehensive security initiative formulated by the Chinese president.’
For him, China is still a credible partner of African countries on the path to security and development. ‘We will continue to work with our Burkinabè friends in this direction,’ he concluded.
