CAN2023: explosion of joy from Bouakéens to celebrate the qualification of the Elephants in the round of 16

Bouaké: the populations of Bouaké exploded with joy on Wednesday evening just after the final whistle of the referee of the match Morocco # Zambia (1-0), to celebrate the de facto qualification of the Elephants of Ivory Coast for the 8th finals of CAN 2023.

‘God is Ivorian,’ shouts a group of supporters roaming the streets of Bouaké.

Several groups of Ivorian supporters, brandishing flags of the country, whistling with vouvouzélas, have been demonstrating since the end of the Morocco #Zambia match which saw the victory of the Atlas Lions by the smallest of margins.

There remained only one best 3rd place in the CAN groups in Group F. Morocco therefore had to beat the Chipolopolos of Zambia to offer a chance to Ivory Coast to resurrect itself in the tournament, which had almost lost all hope of qualifying.

It’s done and the Elephants pass the 1st round of their CAN to meet the Lions of Senegal in the round of 16.

The CAN Ivory Coast 2023 takes place from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
