CAN 2023 preparations: victory of Burkina Faso over DR Congo by 2 goals to 1


The Stallions of Burkina Faso beat the Leopards of the DR Congo on Wednesday at the Baniyas Sport stadium in Dubai by a score of 2 goals to 1, counting for the preparations for the CAN Ivory Coast 2023.

The Burkinabe goals were scored by Blati Touré (36th ) and Mohamed Konaté (41st ) in the first before the Leopards reduced the score by Olympique de Marseille member Chancel MBemba (56th ) .

This meeting against DR Congo is the last preparation match for the Stallions before the start of the CAN. On January 5, Hubert Velud’s men lost (1-2) against the Iranian team.

The Stallions course ends on January 10 in Dubai. After this meeting, the Stallions will fly off in the early morning of Thursday January 11 for the Ivory Coast on a special flight. They will make a stopover in Ethiopia for resupply before heading to Abidjan, a stopover required by CAF.

Arrival in Abidjan is scheduled at Felix Houphouët Boigny Airport around 4 p.m. GMT. From there, the Stallions will take a domestic flight (plane chartered by C
OCAN) to reach Bouaké, their base for the first round. They will arrive around 8 p.m. in Bouaké, the final destination.

Burkina Faso will play its first official CAN match on January 16 against Mauritania. Burkina Faso is in Group D alongside Algeria, Angola and Mauritania. The 2023 Ivory Coast CAN is scheduled to be played from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
