Burkina will receive 25 thousand tons of wheat from Russia on January 26, 2024

Burkina Faso will officially receive Russian wheat estimated at 25,000 tonnes, in the presence of the Russian ambassador in Ouagadougou, Alexey Saltykov, AIB learned Thursday from Burkinabe diplomacy.

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Burkina, Alexey Saltykov, discussed preparations for the delivery of Russian grain donations to the Land of Upright Men this morning with the Burkinabè Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré.

The communications department of the Ministry of External Relations, which provided the information, indicates that this delivery ‘will take place this Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Burkinabe capital.’

‘This donation is offered by President Vladimir Putin to the people of Burkina Faso and we are proud that this aid was able to reach its destination,’ declared Ambassador Saltykov quoted by the same source.

This donation was promised by the Russian president during the Russia-Africa summit organized in Saint Petersburg.

In November 2023, the Russian
Minister of Agriculture, Dmitri Patrushev, announced that two ships, en route with wheat, will reach Somalia and Burkina Faso no later than early December 2023.
