Burkina: “The Transition is not against the rich,” says the Prime Minister

Ouagadougou, (AIB) – The Burkinabè Prime Minister, Me Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla, indicated that the reforms initiated by the Transition are not aimed at harming the rich, but at promoting national capitalism beneficial to all.

“We, the people of the Transition, are not against the rich. Because when you are close to the rich, there are crumbs that fall,” declared Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla on Saturday evening, during a dinner in his residence with Burkinabè businessmen.

According to the head of government, the ambition of the Transition is to ensure that all Burkinabè become rich.

He expressed his astonishment at those who constantly wonder where the Transition is taking the country.

“We left Burkina Faso, we want to arrive in Burkina Faso. Everything we do is in the interest of the Burkinabè people,” said Mr. Kyelem.

He took the example of the market for making decorative medals, “snatched from France” for a local craftsman, and of the decision to now equip the public administration with computers made by a Burkinabè.

“We’re not into intrigue. We play fair,” added Me Apollinaire Kyelem from Tambèla.

For the Prime Minister, it is a question of promoting “national capitalism” beneficial to all.

According to Me Apollinaire Kyelem of Tambèla, the Transition has innovative ideas and economic operators have the necessary funds.

It is in this sense that he invited Burkinabè economic operators to invest fully in the success of the first African Exhibition of Financing, Investment and Innovation for Development (SAFID).

According to his chief of staff, Dr Ferdinand Ouédraogo, 1,000 people are expected at this biennial which aims to connect capital holders and project holders.

Dr Ouédraogo clarified that the show is open to traditional partners such as the World Bank and the European Union, but with a very particular emphasis on national and African investors.

He added that the government plans to co-organize the event with the chamber of commerce and other similar stakeholders.

The president of the National Employers’ Council of Burkina, Idrissa Nassa, assured of the support of all his colleagues.

He indicated that if national economic operators are fully involved, foreign investors will come on their own.

Idrissa Nassa said he was waiting for other meetings with the Prime Minister to better explore the roles of each actor in the organization of SAFID.

Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla invited economic operators to contact his office for the difficulties they believe the government can help with.
