The Circle of Actions for Economic and Social Development of Burkina Faso (CADES-BF) drew up a satisfactory assessment on Thursday in Ouagadougou of the first summer university of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), which brought together 251 young volunteers from Burkina, Mali and Niger in Ziniaré (Burkina Faso).
“What we can take away from this activity is the commitment of all social classes for a real reconstitution of nations through the effective participation of administrative and customary authorities and youth. And, it is a satisfaction for us who organized it,” said the president of the organizing committee, Ibrahim Belem.
For Mr. Belem, CADES-BF has created a framework for meeting, exchange and sharing of experience between young people on the one hand and between the authorities and young people on the other.
According to him, this platform allowed the youth to reiterate their commitment to support the authorities for the effective implementation of the ideals for the AES, as evidenced by the
motion of support formulated by the young people for the three heads of state.
As recommendations, the work of this summer university calls for the denunciation of any attempt to destabilize the three States to the competent jurisdictions and for the involvement of researchers in the conceptualization of new strategic orientations of the States of the alliance.
According to the president of the organizing committee, the summer universities will take place every 6 months on a rotating basis between the three states of the confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
The first AES summer university was held from September 25 to 27, 2024 in Ziniaré under the theme: “The imperative commitment of AES youth for real nation building”. The next edition is scheduled for March 2025 in Bamako, Mali.
