Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Government and the Council of Ministers, Mathias Traoré, said Tuesday that he was counting on the contribution of the Burkina Information Agency (AIB) to raising awareness, in the context of the security and humanitarian crisis.

‘In the difficult circumstances that Burkina Faso is going through, I know how to count on your contributions for the awakening of conscience of our populations’, wrote Mathias Traoré on Tuesday in the guest book of the sixtieth anniversary of the AIB, after the visit of its facilities.

The AIB celebrated its sixty years of existence on May 27, 2024, in the greatest sobriety.

The same day, she received in the afternoon a visit from the Minister of Communication Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, the next day a letter of congratulations from Captain Anderson Medah, Chief of Staff of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré and on the 3 June 2024, the visit of the president of the Higher Council of Communication, Idrissa Ouédraogo.

» I come withi
n the framework of government solidarity to say that it is not only your minister (Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, Communication) who is interested in your structure at the moment. But it is the entire government that is sensitive to what results you produce. I come to congratulate you and encourage you for these convincing results and especially for the professionalism you put into them,’ Mathias Traoré told the agents.

The Secretary General of the Government and the Council of Ministers also recalled that in this context of security (and humanitarian) crisis that Burkina Faso is going through, the AIB has played and continues to play a notable role in the reconquest of the national territory.

‘Today, whatever anyone says, national and international opinion, if it wants to, can feed on the information you produce,’ noted the SGG.

According to him, the agency allowed the entire public to know the commitment of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, concerning, among other things, the projects of national
reconciliation, the rebuilding of the State and security and humanitarian issues.

The SGG noted that the AIB was a major actor in making known the true information on the unfailing fight waged by the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) on the ground.

‘The correct information is relayed and in time to allow all citizens to be informed and to know the bravery of the fighting forces on the ground,’ he maintained.

Mr. Traoré was edified by the system and approach put in place to collect, process and disseminate information for the benefit of the populations.

‘It’s a big workload that I see. But I also see that you have competent men, journalists who are responsible for training other information professionals,’ he continued.

For him, the AIB has been remarkable in recent periods in terms of responsible communication on the actions carried out, and he reassured that the government will always remain alongside the agency for the continuation of its informa
tion mission.
