Ouagadougou: The three best fodder producers for the 2023-2024 season received bonuses and production equipment on Thursday in Manga, on the sidelines of the launch of the fodder production campaign for 2024.

The three best fodder producers of the 2023 edition ‘received respectively sums in cash and production equipment ranging from one million 150 thousand to 750 thousand’, according to the communication services of the Minister in charge of Agriculture and of Livestock.

The first national prize went to Olivier Paré, from Dédougou, Boucle du Mouhoun region.

‘This price is a challenge, I must not fall again. If all of Burkina Faso finds that what you are doing is good, you must not fall again,’ he said.

The Director General of Animal Production, Marcel Da, congratulated them and reiterated his encouragement for the efforts made in fodder production during the past campaign. He invited them to continue in the same dynamic for the 2024 campaign.

Livestock breeding is an important sub-sector for Burkina Fas
o. It contributes more than 18% to the national GDP and is practiced by more than 80% of the population.

However, the available fodder remains insufficient to support the ambitions of this sub-sector.
