Burkina: The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco discusses with the Minister of Higher Education on the program for awarding Moroccan scholarships to Burkinabè students

Ouagadougou: As a prelude to the launch of the work of the session of the Morocco-Burkina Faso Inter-State committee responsible for the examination and final selection for the scholarships of the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency Mr. Youssef Slaoui , Ambassador of Morocco to Burkina, paid a courtesy visit this Monday, July 15, 2024, to the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Professor Adjima Thiombiano.

For His Excellency Mr. Youssef Slaoui, ‘Morocco has a very rich, very ambitious, very reinforced program in terms of cooperation, in terms of higher education and professional training.’

Note that the Ambassador of the Cherifian kingdom had at his side, a delegation from the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), present in Ouagadougou as part of the work of the session of the Morocco-Burkina Faso Inter-State committee responsible for examination and final selection for scholarships in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Prof
essor Adjima Thiombiano chaired the opening of the work of the Morocco-Burkina Faso Inter-State committee.

This meeting brings together members of the National Commission for Study and Internship Grants (CNBES) from several ministerial departments and a delegation from the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI).

It aims to examine and select new Burkinabe high school graduates for Moroccan scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Minister responsible for higher education welcomed the partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco and the effective holding of this session which will make it possible to rule clearly on scholarships on the basis of transparency criteria.

‘This is the first time that this meeting is being held and I hope that it will continue. I welcome the significant increase in the number of our scholarships which arrive in a context where we have set up a benchmark for priority training for the Burkina Faso,’ said Professor Adjima Thiombiano.

He took the opportunity to co
ngratulate the members of the National Commission for Study and Internship Grants (CNBES) for the quality of the work carried out and especially for the objectivity they demonstrate in the processing of files.

However, he instructed these actors to think about how to reorganize certain texts with a view to adapting them to the context.

‘These are men who write texts, they are also men who, given a context, can reorganize the texts to respond to certain concerns… it is a set of reforms that must be undertaken to respond to the current context », added the Minister before inviting the members of the CNBES to more communication and awareness.

The Moroccan Ambassador to Burkina Faso also welcomed the holding of this session and especially the rich cooperation that the two countries maintain.

‘The overall annual State-to-State quota is 200 scholarships distributed as follows: 130 for higher and academic education and 70 scholarships for professional training. From August and September, young Burkinabè students
who have been selected for scholarships will be able to join Morocco and their university centers of assignment,’ explained His Excellency Mr. Youssef Slaoui.

According to the President of the National Commission for Study and Internship Scholarships (CNBES), Professor Jean Célestin Ky, ‘the task assigned to the members will consist of selecting 90 baccalaureate graduates for the university training quota and 30 baccalaureate graduates for the quota of scholarships from the Southern Provinces of Morocco.

Note that the CNBES is made up of representatives of the Prime Ministry, the ministries in charge of higher education, foreign affairs, the civil service, the economy and finance, social action as well as associations of students.

A plural composition which aims to guarantee transparency and objectivity in the allocation of scholarships which must go to the most deserving in accordance with the instructions of the authorities, underlined the President of the CNBES, Professor Jean Célestin Ky.
