Burkina: The African Mathematics School 2024 ends on a note of satisfaction

Ouagadougou: The African Mathematics School (EMA) 2024 organized by Thomas Sankara University closed its doors last Friday, May 31 in Ouagadougou, with satisfaction.

This framework will serve, according to Mr. Nonkané, to unite energies with a view to promoting mathematics in African countries through the training of young people.

He explained that everything included in the EMA 2024 program has been achieved satisfactorily.

As a perspective, the participants suggested the sustainability of the meeting by its institutionalization for each year. They also wanted an increase in the number of participants selected by call for applications in order to allow more people to benefit from the benefits of the EMA.

Another perspective is the holding of a school of the international pure and applied mathematics center in July 2025, said the president of the organizing committee.

Like him, there were around fifty doctoral participants, most of
them from several African countries, to take part in the event this year.

For two weeks, from May 20 to 31, 2024, they were entitled to refresher courses and scientific communications and panels. A training which was beneficial to them according to Nabil Oro Djibril, Beninese doctoral student in mathematics.

‘The teachers made their contribution and we were entitled to a lot of lessons and received very good experiences’, he confided.
