Burkina: The Africa Initiative association equips around fifty young people with emergency relief

Africa Initiative, with the support of Russian cooperation, organized on Tuesday, for the benefit of around fifty young people, an emergency rescue workshop focusing in particular on cases of accident, loss of consciousness, drowning, electrocution and burns.

‘Emergency aid concepts are very important in the sense that they help save lives,’ declares Issaka Ouédraogo, President of the medical emergency aid training organizing committee.

For him, knowing how to assist a third person in an emergency is necessary.

Mr. Ouédraogo spoke on Tuesday during the training workshop on emergency medical aid, initiated by Africa Initiative.

‘This training is in line with win-win cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Russian Federation,’ explains Issaka Ouédraogo.

‘We wanted to reach all social levels by diversifying the participants because there are pupils and students as well as housewives’

For Doctor Dolbnya Dmitri, doctor and trainer, the participants were very receptive.

‘We have seen a few cases where we c
an provide first medical aid,’ notes the Russian doctor.

‘It was mainly a question of cases where a person lost consciousness or was the victim of drowning, suffering from a burn or electrocution,’ explains Dr Dolbnya Dmitri.

‘I welcome this initiative which will undoubtedly help us better manage emergency situations in our families,’ says participant Assia Barry.

Daouda Soré, socio-anthropologist, participant also welcomed the initiative.

‘Now we can help someone who is the victim of an accident. We learned how to protect the latter and what to do in the event of a snake bite,’ adds Mr. Soré.

A first aid kit containing various medications was given to each participant.

The organizing committee plans to extend the training to high schools and universities in order to benefit as many people as possible.
