Burkina/Sambo Competition: Athlete Mano Israel crowned champion of the first edition


Ouagadougou: The athlete, Mano Israel won on Saturday the final of the first edition of the national Sambo competition, a sport of Russian origin, by defeating his opponent, Leïla Abdoul Malick, in the men’s combat category over 98 kg.

The first edition of the final of the national Sambo competition, a sport of Russian origin, took place this Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the martial arts hall of the Burkinabè National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSB) in Ouagadougou.

The competition which brought together 48 athletes of all categories, from Burkina, Mali, Niger and Russia, was won by the athlete, Mano Israel against his challenger, Leila Abdoul Malick, in the combat category. man over 98 kg.

The national Sambo competition, initiated by the Burkinabe Sambo Sports Association, in partnership with African initiatives, a Russian-Burkinabe association.

This sport brings together several sporting disciplines such as boxing, wrestling, judo, Karate etc.
