The Yamlaminim Association donated a school kit (schooling, supplies, school canteen and bicycles) on Monday, September 30 in Loumbila, to 72 secondary school students from this commune in the Central Plateau region on the eve of the start of the school year, noted an AIB journalist.

These various donations were awarded to pupils and students in the 6th grade, final year and university classes and were valued at 9,380,000 FCFA, according to the representative of Yamlaminim in Burkina Faso Hamidou Salambéré, who added that the value of the donation among the 24 university students amounts to 13,080,000 FCFA. Mr. Salamabéré also said that his organization supported 16 internally displaced students from the communes of Comin-Yanga, Dourtenga, Kohogo and Lamiougou in the province of Koulpélogo, to the tune of 5,800,000 FCFA.

The total contribution of Yamlaminim for this year in the field of education is around 28,260,000 FCFA.

The award ceremony was attended by teachers, parents of students, former students,
municipal authorities and ministerial authorities. Former students currently in the job market took the opportunity to testify to the benefits of the assistance provided by Yamlaminim since 2007 in the commune of Loumbila. They also gave advice to their little brothers on how to succeed at school, just like the donor.

The 1st Vice -President of the special delegation of the commune of Loumbila, Adama Compaoré, who chaired the ceremony, thanked the association for its gesture. “These are actions to be commended. It is support that is in line with the priorities of local authorities, even the highest authorities, given the context we are currently experiencing and where priorities are given to certain lines.”

For him, “this support allows us to fill a gap in education in our community. Supporting students until the
end of their studies is really one less thorn in the side.”

The provincial director of post-primary and secondary education in the province of Oubritenga, Mrs. Somé Edwige Marie Gilberte, also attended this presentation. She expressed her gratitude to Yamlaminim for this support. ‘They are truly resourceful people and I realize that it didn’t start now. It’s been since 2007. I am more than satisfied with what I have seen and heard. This act removes more than a thorn.’

Ms. Somé also acknowledged that the association supports the ministry in its educational policy. “It’s motivating children to come to school, to love school by giving them means of transport. It’s getting students to be able to be motivated and come with dignity without complexes because now they already have the equipment and here it is on the eve of the start of the school year and we can only be happy.”

Parents and authorities also

From 2007 to 2024, Yamlaminim has been involved in the field of education in Burkina Faso, and 480 students have benefited from its support.
