Burkina: Free vouchers to help improve the health of retirees

CARFO and the CNSS will provide retirees and living spouses of retirees with consultation, examination and medication vouchers to enable them to carry out their annual medical examination, at the time and place of their convenience.

The president of the organizing committee of the 10th edition of the free medical examination of retirees and living spouses of retirees, Hamidou Sawadogo, announced this Thursday to the press that this edition which will be held from April to June 2024 will include a new formula which takes into account the needs of beneficiaries.

‘This new formula consists of making benefit vouchers available to beneficiaries.

These are mainly vouchers contributing to the costs of body examinations, laboratory and pharmacy examinations,’ said the president of the organizing committee, Hamidou Sawadogo.

He continued that beneficiaries will be able to have their medical examination at their convenience according to the period indicated on the voucher and in all approved health structures as we
ll as in all pharmacies that are members of the economic interest group of pharmacists of Burkina Faso (GIEPHAB) .

The director of social protection Oumarou Sawadogo explained that each voucher presents 3 sheets including a sheet for the consultation worth 2250 CFA francs for men and 3750 CFA francs for women which includes the cervical cancer examination. the uterus.

‘The second sheet worth 7000f concerns laboratory examinations while the third with a value of 5000f will be used for the purchase of medicines,’ he said.

‘This is not support. It is a contribution so that pensioners can take care of themselves and improve their state of health,’ explained the president of the organizing committee Oumarou Sawadogo.

According to him, the leaflet for purchasing medicines will allow doctors to make a prescription that takes into account the needs of the beneficiary.

Mr. Sawadogo added that the national committee has decided to experiment with a voucher system usable annually in the cities of Ouagadougou and Fa
da where the vouchers will be usable for up to 6 months instead of 2 months as in the rest of the country.

Furthermore, he continued that this edition will see an expansion of access points to services.

‘The reception sites for the visit are mainly regional university hospital centers, regional hospital centers, medical centers with surgical antenna, OST, CST services and urban medical centers in the regional committees of Ouagadougou and of Fada N’Gourma” indicated the president of the organizing committee.

According to him, this year, the start of the visit will take place simultaneously in the different sites of each regional committee, from the launch date scheduled for Thursday April 4, 2024 at the Tenkodogo regional hospital center.

‘We have made the vouchers available to the CNSS and CARFO so that retirees can present what is necessary in order to have access to them,’ he indicated.

alth of retirees and the surviving spouses of retirees from the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and the Autonomous Retirement Fund. civil servants (CARFO).
