Burkina establishes its consulate general as a resident embassy in Niger

Ouagadougou: The council of ministers decided on Friday to establish the Consulate General of Burkina Faso in the Republic of Niger as a resident embassy, AIB learned.

According to the Burkinabè government, this measure aims to consolidate the centuries-old links between the two countries, cooperation and to further defend the interests of the approximately 800,000 Burkinabè who reside in Niger.

Since the takeover of Captain Ibrahim Traoré (September 2022) and General Abdourahamane Tiani (July 2023) in Burkina Faso and the Republic of Niger, ties between the two Nations have been further strengthened.
