Ouagadougou: The Burkinabè government created on Wednesday a state company called the Burkinabè Company of Agropastoral Inputs and Materials (SOBIMA) to replace the Central Supply of Agricultural Inputs and Materials (CAIMA) dissolved the same day.

‘To replace CAIMA, the government adopted a fifth decree creating a state company called the Burkinabè Company of Agropastoral Inputs and Materials (SOBIMA),’ indicated the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

According to the Minister in charge of Agriculture, Ismaël Sombié, this company aims to be strategic for the government in terms of supplying inputs and will essentially be ensured by public capital.

Created in 2020, CAIMA’s main objective was to ensure the regular supply of the country with quality agricultural inputs and equipment at a competitive price for the benefit of producers.

The government says it dissolved CAIMA because of its operating difficulties.
