Ouagadougou: Burkinabè player, Edmond Tapsoba, and Bayer Leverkusen were crowned champions of the German championship on Saturday for the first time in the club’s history, in its 120-year history, also holding the record for invincibility.

For the last day of the German championship, Xabi Alonso’s men consolidated their leadership position by beating Augsburg at home by a score of 2 goals to 1. They are ahead of Stuttgart and Bayern Munich on the podium.

Created in 1904, the club won its first title in style. Who would have believed it ? With its 50 flawless matches (41 wins, 9 draws), the club made even more history by consolidating the invincibility record held by Benfica (48 matches) in 1963.

International Edmond Tapsoba, who arrived at this club at the end of January 2020 as a defender, also made history by becoming the first Burkinabè player to lift the ‘Meisterschale’, the German championship trophy.
