Boucle du Mouhoun: Suspension of livestock transport outside the Banwa for three months, governor

Ouagadougou: The Governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, has suspended all livestock transport throughout the Banwa province to any other destination for a period of 3 months, learned the AIB.

A note received on Friday at the AIB and signed by the Governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, suspends all livestock transport from January 5 to April 4, 2024 across the entire extent of the Banwa territory to any other destination.

However, “the High Commissioner of the Banwa province must, with full responsibility and on a case-by-case basis, in conjunction with the competent technical services, study and decide on the need to evacuate the livestock to the marketing areas with all the necessary security guarantees that this evacuation requires,’ said Mr. Bassinga.

Several trucks load cattle every week towards the town of Bobo-Dioulasso, and some sources point the finger at the accomplishments of the terrorists who hunt the animals in cleared villages and resell them
in certain markets in the province at low prices.

According to AIB sources, this note comes at the right time because the cattle are transported to the Malian border in the localities of Sourodinga and Wafourouma, and after the sale, terrorists cross the villages of Tansila and Sami with new motorcycles
