Bobo-Dioulasso Integration Festival: The 6th edition dedicated to peace and social cohesion

Ouagadougou: The 6th edition of the Bobo Dioulasso Integration Festival (FESTIB) was officially launched on Saturday July 27, 2024 at the Maison de la culture de Bobo-Dioulasso. The festival takes place from July 26 to 28, 2024 in the town of Sya.

It is within the framework of strengthening peace and social cohesion that the 6th edition of the Bobo Dioulasso Integration Festival (FESTIB) is being held. The festival takes place from July 26 to 28 under the theme: ‘cultural integration, factor of social cohesion and development for a resilient Burkina’ . This cultural celebration was punctuated by a panel, a community and craft fair, a community day, dance competitions and a miss competition.

Several foreign African countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Niger, Benin and Senegal took part in this activity. At the launch of FESTIB, on July 27, 2024, the promoter, Assita Rosalie Houin, affirmed that the event is an opportunity to bring together communities. ‘It is a dream opportunity to celeb
rate this cultural diversity which makes our nation beautiful and also to share our traditions, our rhythms and our knowledge. By promoting mutual understanding and respect for the traditions and customs of others, we build solid bridges between communities, thus strengthening social cohesion ,’ underlined Ms. Houin.

The representative of the Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, president of the festival, Aline Carama, agreed. For her, FESTIB is a major activity because it aims for social cohesion and peace. ‘The cultural wealth of Burkina Faso is a major asset. Each ethnic group, each community makes a unique contribution to our common heritage. And cultural integration invites us to embrace this diversity not only as a source of enrichment but also as a unifying force ,’ suggested Dame Carama.

For the representative of the president of the special municipal delegation of Bobo Dioulasso, sponsor of the festival, Mariam Sanou, this gathering of several cultures will promo
te social cohesion and will bring a plus to the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso in terms of peace and social cohesion .
