The Song Despite Women’s Association for Development (AFD) of Kongoussi offered on June 22, 2024 in Kongoussi five tons of rice intended for internally displaced women members of the association, host families and widows and orphans taken care of by the association.
The Song Despite Women’s Association for Development (AFD) of Kongoussi organized a day of exchanges and food donations for the benefit of women members of the association on June 22, 2024 in Kongoussi. The ceremony was attended by the coordinator of the association, Ms. Claire Guebré/Ouédraogo, the representative of the provincial director in charge of Women Bruno W. Ouédraogo and the provincial coordinator of women of Bam, Noëlie Sawadogo.
These are three communications which have been developed for the benefit of women members of the AFD and also women from the host community of Kongoussi.
The modules developed focused on ‘Social cohesion and peace’, ‘Reproductive health’ and ‘Education of children in crisis situations’.
At the end of the c
ommunications, the association handed over 5 tonnes of food consisting of rice to the women. The 2 tonnes are reserved for internally displaced women who are members of the association, the 2.5 tonnes for the host families and widows of the association and the 0.5 tonnes for the orphans taken care of by the association.
For the coordinator Ms. Claire Guebré/Ouédraogo, the objective pursued by her structure is to help women to be able to face the current crisis.
‘ We have always worked in the villages and currently it is difficult. And you know well that we have worked a lot in recovering soils and fixing communities in their bases. Unfortunately, there are no longer these possibilities. And these are essentially people who only made a living from agriculture. This is why we thought of this support which could relieve them a little,’ she explained.
The representative of the beneficiaries Clémence Sawadogo from the village Nabeguian thanked the AFD association for not only the various communications they fol
lowed, but especially the donation of rice which came at the right time.
The representative of the provincial director in charge of women and humanitarian action of Bam Bruno W. Ouédraogo also thanked the AFD association for the organization of this day. On behalf of the provincial director, he congratulated the coordinator of the association while giving her the assurance that she will always benefit from the technical support of the provincial direction.
As a reminder, AFD was created in 2014. It operates in 48 villages in Bam through assistance to women in several areas including agriculture. In March 2020, coordinator Ms. Claire Guébré won the international ‘woman of courage’ award from the US Department of State.
