The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) launched, on Tuesday, the distribution of food kits to 1,200 households in the communes of Tikaré and Kongoussi.

The call by the top authorities in Burkina Faso to support Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) has found a favorable echo with the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

On October 22, 2024, the NGO showed generosity in favor of the IDPs of Tikaré and Kongoussi.

These are 1,200 food kits which were given to vulnerable households, made up of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities in the communes of Kongoussi and Tikaré.

The kits consist of 50 kg of rice, 50 kg of millet, 20 kg of cowpea and condiments (soumbala, oil, salt, smoked fish), which were distributed to each beneficiary household.

In Kongoussi, 800 households were identified, compared to 400 households in the commune of Tikaré.

According to ADRA Country Director in Burkina Faso, Edmond Gué, the choice of beneficiaries was made in collaboration with the prov
incial directorate in charge of Humanitarian Action in Bam.

For him, this assistance from ADRA will contribute to helping populations face current challenges.

“Today, this ceremony symbolizes our determination to support 1,200 households in the communes of Tikaré and Kongoussi, by providing them with food assistance consisting of 60 tons of rice, 60 tons of millet and 24 tons of beans, as part of our collective effort to improve their food and nutritional security,” he said.

Kadiguèta Ouédraogo, beneficiary and IDP from the commune of Zimtanga in Kongoussi, expressed his gratitude to ADRA for this gesture.

“I am happy because this donation has come to relieve us. I thank all those who worked so that we could benefit from this aid,” she said.

The regional director in charge of humanitarian action in the Centre-North, Moïse Bado, stressed that this donation complies with the standards of humanitarian assistance in Burkina Faso, which is a minimum of 12.5 kg per person.

He also expressed his gratitude to A
DRA for this gesture, which supports the government’s efforts.

The Secretary General of Bam Province, Karim Ouédraogo, representing the High Commissioner, called on the beneficiaries to use the aid rationally, in order to be able to meet their food needs.
