Ouagadougou: The team of former glories and traders won the final of the 15th edition of the interservice cup against the Health team, last Saturday July 13 on the Boromo A school field. The final was played in the presence of the governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region and several guests. The theme of this edition is: ‘Sport, a factor of resilience and improvement of living together’.

Started on May 25, the inter-service tournament of the province of Balé season 2024 ended on July 13 with the victory of the team of former glories and traders in yellow jersey is the winner.

She beat the Health team 1 to 0. The only goal of the match was scored in the first minute of the 2nd half by Guira Ali after a first period clearly dominated by the Health team.

Despite the effort to come back to the score, the reigning champion did not succeed until the final whistle from central referee Moumouni Dao.

Overall, two opponents pleased the highly mobilized sports public like previous editions with great fair play.

The
champion received the sum of 100,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, a ball and the winner’s trophy. It was the justice team which completed the podium in third place. 10 teams took part in this maracana tournament placed under the technical direction of the provincial sports and leisure department. They were all rewarded and congratulated, according to their ranking.

The organizing committee chaired by the Secretary General of the province, Asseta Kouanda, expressed its satisfaction with the progress of the competition and the support of the administrative authorities and partners.

The final was sponsored by the governor of Mouhoun, Pierre Bassinga. The first official of the region took the opportunity to congratulate the administrative authorities of the province for the strong mobilization and the success of the event.

Also, special mention was made to the region’s defense and security forces. According to the governor, beyond sport, this tournament is an activity of great importance because it is proof of resi
lience in the face of the terrorist mechanism.

‘Whatever the difficulties of the moment, mobilization must be a powerful lever for the authorities, the sons and daughters of the region and the FDS to support the first authorities of the country,’ said Governor Bassinga.

To this end, he praised the commitment of the FDS which made it possible to retake several localities and major roads. In this sense, he invited the populations of Balé to remain mobilized behind the authorities and to participate in the reconquest of the territory and in the agrosylvopastoral offensive.

The high commissioner of the province, Ibrahim Boly, expressed his gratitude to the governor for his presence, and praised the strong mobilization of the populations, partners and public and private services for their contribution.

‘In union and cohesion, we will overcome everything that wants to oppose our triumphant march towards the horizon of happiness,’ suggested Mr. Boly.

As a reminder, in the morning a popular cross country followed by an aerobics session brought together the administrative authorities, the FDS and the civilian populations. The final of the pétanque competition was also played with the victory of the MENAPL 2 team. The city of Boromo thus experienced a day rich in sport and leisure. Appointment is made for the 16th edition.
