Burkinabe media executives training in China visited Changsha University and its ‘total and omnipotent media’ training center during an open seminar from Oct. 11 to 31 in Hunan Province, southern China.
Led by the mission officer of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Bakary Koné, the Burkinabe delegation met with officials from the University of Changsah and visited their Omnimedia Training Center, particularly the 3D virtual presentation studio.
The Malashan Department of New Media at this university provides theoretical and practical training and provides its students with HD cameras and high-tech sets.
Omnimedia is a “total and omnipotent media,” explains journalist Nie Xiong of the Hunan Broadcasting System.
For this senior journalist currently working in advertising, “Omnimedia is not the addition of a few media together but the technological improvement and complex integration of media, combining text, images, sound, AI.”
Omnimedia arises from the deep integration of digita
l technologies into traditional media but also from the advanced integration of science, technology and culture into media programs.
Students trained in omnimedia are thus able to produce broadcasts, films, short videos with a high impact, on themes of Chinese history, culture and know-how, to be broadcast on new networked media.
Two African students, both from Uganda and beneficiaries of scholarships, are enrolled in this university which has 160,000 students, according to officials. The university offers bachelor’s degrees, in Mandarin and English, and master’s degrees, exclusively in Mandarin.
With more than 2,200 so-called integrated media outlets, China is at the forefront of omnimedia management, Nie Xiong maintains.
28 Burkinabe media executives are staying in China from October 11 to October 31, 2024 as part of Burkina-China cooperation in the media field.
In addition to the lectures, the Burkinabe delegation visited media, training and cultural creation centers as well as tourist sites in the pr
ovince of Hunan, in southern China.
