Ambassador Léopold Bonkoungou presents his letters of credence to British King Charles III

Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Léopold T. Bonkoungou, presented his letters of credence to British King Charles III, at Buckingham Palace, the AIB learned this Tuesday from of the Burkinabe Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

‘HEM Léopold Tonguenoma Bonkoungou, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Burkina Faso to the United Kingdom, presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, on Thursday May 16, 2024, at Buckingham Palace,’ specified the communications services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the occasion, the British monarch sent his ‘warm greetings’ to the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré and to the people of Burkina Faso, ‘for the quality of the relations of friendship and cooperation which link Burkina Faso and the United Kingdom. United’, still according to the communication services of the Burkinabè Ministry in charge of Affairs

During the discussions, Mr. Bonkoungou discussed with Charles III subjects of
bilateral cooperation between Burkina Faso and the United Kingdom and also presented to him the security situation which prevails in Burkina Faso and in the Sahel in general, adds the same source.

He was also received in audience with the director in charge of development issues in the Sahel of the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs and Development Office of the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom, which includes Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is the 4th country to have received Ambassador Bonkoungou for the presentation of his Letters of Credence, after Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

Considered until recently as a French pre-square country placed under the influence of Françafrique, Burkina Faso has decided to diversify and revitalize its relations, taking into account only the best interests of its people.
