Ouagadougou: Tenkodogo rider Amado Réogo won the category B national cycling championship on Saturday on Boulevard Thomas Sankara in Ouagadougou, winning in the sprint ahead of Abdoul Yaméogo de Pouytenga and Tiguéri Consembo ( Ziniaré), we observed on site.

The cyclist from the Boulgou province Amado Réogo strategically won the race. He stayed in the peloton until the last 200m to show his power. He made a furious attack in the last 50m to beat his two competitors, Abdoul Yaméogo and Tiguéri Consembo.

He completed the 102 km in 2h49mn05seconds, an average speed of 36.195km/h.

With 44 runners from 25 clubs from the provinces (interior of the country) at the start, the cyclists fought hard to complete the 5,100km criterium of Boulevard Thomas Sankara, a total distance of 102km.

The pace of the race, around 30 km/h, did not live up to expectations and for the president of the Burkinabè Cycling Federation, ‘the provincials do not have enough competition’. After 15 laps of the track (i.e. 76.5km) the runners
were at 36.719km/h. It was in the last two laps that the peloton grouped together from the start increased the pace a little more until the end.

The first 5 to finish will advance to the elite next season.

After this B championship played this Saturday, place will be made for the elite A championship tomorrow Sunday.

In the women’s championship also run this Saturday, AS BESSEL sprinter Lamoussa Zoungrana was crowned champion.
