Airport authorities and Royal Air Maroc take action against lost connecting baggage

Ouagadougou: Mohammed V airport in Casablanca has just set up a coordination unit to resolve disruptions in the delivery of connecting baggage when passengers complain about the loss of their baggage, learned the AIB from the MAP.

‘A week without any trace of my luggage. Thank you Royal Air Maroc,’ complained to a Burkinabè citizen who confirmed this Saturday evening that his situation has not changed. ‘No, (still) no news of the luggage, unfortunately. Without any communication from Royal Air Maroc,’ added Gideon Vink.

Morocco recognizes that the processing of connecting baggage at terminal 1 of Casablanca Mohammed V airport, dedicated to RAM and its partners, has been disrupted for a week, according to a press release cited by MAP.

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and the National Airports Office (ONDA) explain that this situation is due to the change in the control system to which this category of baggage is subject and leading to significant delays in the delivery of baggage in transit, explains the same source.

F
aced with this situation, Casablanca Mohammed V airport has set up a coordination unit bringing together, in addition to RAM Handling, all airport partners (Royal Gendarmerie, DGSN and Customs, etc.) to implement actions and resources. necessary to speed up the return to normal of connecting baggage processing.

Thus, the action plan adopted consists of strengthening the staff of all stakeholders, in particular that of the handler and its subcontractors, to operate new baggage sorting and control areas at T2 and T3 level, as well as supporting the handler’s agents and training them on the use of the T1’s automatic baggage sorting system.

And note that ONDA and RAM would like to reassure passengers affected by these delays that their teams are working hard, in perfect consultation with all partner stakeholders, for the speedy delivery of baggage to their destinations.
