17th edition of SIAO Ouaga 2024: Nigerien craftsmanship in the spotlight (Minister of Crafts)

The Minister of Crafts and Tourism, Ms. Sofiane Agaichata Guichene, hosted a press briefing on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 23, 2024, relating to the 17th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO), of which Niger is the guest of honor.

Note that this major event which celebrates creativity and artisanal know-how, will be held in Ouagadougou in Burkina FASO from October 25 to November 3, 2024.

Through this press briefing, the Minister in charge of Crafts intends to inform national and international opinion that Niger will exhibit at this 17th edition of SIAO high quality products which illustrate the richness of its crafts.

According to Minister Ms. Sofiane, “this event represents much more than a simple exhibition; it is a showcase of the cultural wealth and artisanal heritage of Niger.”

She also announced that “she will be at the head of a dynamic delegation, composed of executives from her ministerial department and the most talented artisans, who will have the opportunity to i
ntroduce the world to the diversity and exceptional quality of Nigerien products.”

It should be noted that for the first time, the highest authorities have fully supported the Niger delegation to SIAO, including round-trip transportation and the rental of thirty stands, ten (10) of which are air-conditioned and twenty (20) ventilated, as well as their branding.

The Minister took the opportunity to express her deep gratitude to the authorities, in particular Brigadier General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP) as well as the Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman LAMINE ZEINE for their unwavering support to the craft sector.

Addressing the artisans, Minister Guichene indicated that “each product that we present must be a faithful reflection of our know-how, our culture and our identity, and it is by maintaining high standards that we will not only be able to conquer new markets, but also strengthen our position on the international scene.”

s. Sofiane Agaichata, “this event is also a valuable opportunity to build relationships, exchange ideas and discover new trends in the craft sector.”

“I would like to stress the crucial importance of professionalism and excellence in our approach,” she stressed before calling on Nigerien artisans to “seize this opportunity to stand out through their creativity and professionalism by presenting to the world high-quality products that illustrate the richness of our crafts and the pride of our nation.”

‘Together, let us make Niger shine on the international stage and show everyone that our artisanal heritage deserves to be recognized and celebrated,’ concluded Minister Agaichata.
